GFB visits the Steel City!

We have a very active 2 year old who currently has a love/hate relationship with her picture being taken (and prefers to wear dresses). We decided to take day 1 with the diaper as a family day at home.

Her older sister was upstairs napping since she wasn't feeling well, and her brother was watching Daddy play PS3.

I chased Josie around with the camera, and with a little help from Daddy, I got one shot of the bum! Otherwise, I managed a couple pictures of a very happy Josie.

The diaper will be cleaned and then put on another bum in the area! More pictures and story to follow!

in....Indonesia!

Honestly when we started this project I never thought that it would go on this long, or this far.

On the diaper's third incarnation, it has made its way to Indonesia to spend time with Astie and her family. Enjoy!~Hally~

(while I giggle to myself...'holy cow...from California to Jakarta...huh...who woulda thunk? ')

So, we did this a little out of the ordinary I guess. I had the diaper at my other place in another city as well, but it wasn't anything special (chores, housewife). Same thing at our place in Jakarta, except my sister came up with a good concept idea. We wanted to do something special with the diaper, while it's in Indonesia. So the story of the diaper would be something like "the photoshoot with the Global Fluffy Bum" or something like that.

We also wanted to show some Indonesian traditional items. Oh, by the way, we don't dress in batiks and kebayas everyday. Only on special occasions, and this was one. :)And last, I included a most recent picture (several months old) of my lil bub and hub while we were island hopping off the coast of Sumatra.

Well....my apologies to those strong and few that continue to follow our blog.
The diaper has been en route to its next destination. And it was NOT close.

I just received word that the diaper arrived safely and I'll post about its journey tomorrow.

Until then, let the guessing begin. The diaper is now across an ocean from where it was last....guess away my friends!

PA fun in the Fluff!

We had another chance to have the fluffy bum with us and it was great! We got some pictures outside... enjoying the last moments of "summer"! And the kids loved it!

Cecilia is five months and had a great time showing the fluffy bum outside!

Marco is a little over two now... it was a little bit harder to get a good picture of him... so much energy!!!! Wearing cloth diapers has truly been a great experience and when the fluffy bum comes comes around it makes it even more special! Thanks again!!!

We're going to try and send this diaper internationally. The last time we attempted this, the diaper 'got lost' somewhere in Canada.

Why My North Carolina Fluffy Bum is Pretty Super

Hi, I'm Anneliese! I'm ten months old and I live in Raleigh. I got to wear the worldwide fluffy bum diaper a few weeks ago. We didn't go anywhere or do anything out of the ordinary for the occasion, but I can still give you some reasons why my fluffy bum is rockin' awesome every day!

1.) My fluffy bum earns me lots of camera time. When I'm hanging out in my cutie cloth diapers, I get all the camera time and all those flashing lights are for me! Hardly any flashes for my silly big brother Nathan. Sometimes he pee-pees in the potty instead of his cloth diapers! Why would he do that? Doesn't he know Mommy will make the camera's light flash lots of times if he has a cute fluffy bum? Oh well, more flashing for me. I love the flashing light.

2.) My fluffy bum saves our family so much money! Sometimes Mommy says that's good because we get to have more money for things like groceries and electricity. But don't listen to her. Really that extra money is for baby clothes and fluffy mail.

3.) My fluffy bum feels so comfy and soft. It's enough to shriek with happiness at every diaper change. No, really, you should try it. What better thing is there to shriek about than clean soft fabric to pee pee on? I'm pretty sure nothing.

4.) My fluffy bum keeps all my poop contained. Shhhhh, don't tell, but I'm not a very ladylike pooper. My poop used to explode all over me and into my car seat and bed and the laps of anyone who was trying to snuggle with me. Then they didn't want to snuggle with me anymore! Now I can poop with a sense of freedom, since they have never ever leaked out of my cloth diapers... not even once! Now people always want to cuddle with me! And all that extra snuggling practice has made me the best hugger in the family. It's true. Everybody says it.

5.) My fluffy bum is helping save the planet. What did your bum do today?

The special thing about these pics is that Anne is smelling some volunteer black-eyed susans that are in the middle of the yard. We have been mowing around them, just because it is fun to see how a bird or the wind carried the seeds from our wildflower garden into the middle of the yard.

Moving on

Morning~
The original diaper with its small blemish has been shipped to the next participant!
It is now on vacation with a family in Virgina. When she's done with it, it will ship on to a repeat mama before I attempt to send it to Indonesia.

We went for a year before either one of our diapers disappeared, then in 6 months they are both 'unattainable'.

Let's keep hoping that the good of the world will continue to participate and that those participants can continue to pass it on.

Bummer on the Bum

Participants,
I need your opinion. The diaper has stalled. It's somewhere in Ontario. And not likely to make it back. (bummer)

However,
I still have the older Bum Genius version that first made the rounds. The catch? There's a small stain (smaller than a dime, more like a shadow really) on the outer shell of the PUL. I need to know if you are still interested in sending this diaper around? The inner of the diaper is pristine and still to be used as a cover.

Please let me know if you guys are will to send this one around the world. I'll send it to the next mama on the list. We've only got 3 more!!

Canada's visit

Pamela mentioned that this diaper looks in great condition. (and I hope it is...haven't seen it in quite a while) This is the second re-incarnation of the diaper cover. The first was actually a blue Bum Genius that had the exact same embroidary. A mom decided to replace it (at her cost) because of a small blemish. The first one awaits its partner so they can both go on (after the adventure) to share fluffy love at the Cloth Diaper Foundation. They're an organization that provides cloth diapers to little ones who need them and wouldn't be able to afford them regularly. CHECK 'EM OUT!

Cloth in Hospitals

While we are waiting for the diaper to make its re-appearance, I'd thought I'd put this idea out there.

After reading a link on Rockin Green's FB page, I immediately got excited. We cloth diapered our Oldest when he was 2ish and Little Brother from when he got home from the hospital. But hmmm....what is keeping people from cloth diapering IN the hospital? They used to! Prefolds were the way of the world. Why aren't they again? The nurses wear gloves when they change diapers these days, so why can't they put the diaper in a wet bag versus the trash.

Did you use cloth in the hospital? Are you a nurse - why wouldn't they use them if provided?

How it all began....

Once upon a time I was on a Cloth Diaper site and I commented on how I had bought a diaper from a mama in MA. She laughed (via email) because I just knew she was (I've got the ESPN like that). She mentioned that she had bought it from a mama in New Mexico.

And we started thinking....what if we chronicled where a single diaper went? And the babies/kids who used it? So we got a diaper cover donated, we got some KICK BUTT embroidery, and it began.

It started with my 2 sons, one who was almost out of dipes, and one who had just arrived. At this point my oldest was just 2 1/2ish, and the baby was about 2 months.

I've included pics of them then and now~Enjoy!

Rockin' Out in San Antonio

We were so excited to have the GFB diaper here in San Antonio. We have been long time fans...so when the diaper arrived on our doorstep, we decided to give you a glimpse into what it's like here at our house. And in our house, we spend a lot of time thinking about cloth diapers. In fact, our family business is to make sure that everyone's cloth diapers get clean.

The Global fluffy bum got a behind the scenes look at what it's like to work for Rockin' Green during it's week long visit. First, we had Zachary (18 months old) help us with the packing peanuts. He might have spilled just a few in the process. Don't worry, they are bio-degradable!

Then it was time to get packing, and he helped us pack up customer orders by pushing the post office bins around the kitchen floor.

He really likes testing them out, to make sure that they can indeed hold up to 30 pounds like they say on the side of the box.

And when that got boring, he moved unto his brothers room where he proceeded to take all the toys out of the toy box and climb unto his play table. And that is pretty much how the day goes, help mommy pack up orders, play with his big brother, take a nap and repeat.

We had a lot of fun with the GFB diaper, and sent it on it's way to Canada freshly washed and with a little sample of Rockin' Green love just for fun!

The Bum was in Brazil!!

Another turn with the fluffy fun! And it was really great! Marco is now a year and a half and the cloth diapers are going strong over here! This time the diaper came with us to Brasil (where I am originally from) to visit family and friends over the Christmas break. We had a really fun time! And the weather was great!

The diaper came to the southeast of the country. The state is called Minas Gerais and the city is Belo Horizonte (translating: Beautiful Horizon! Because of the beautiful mountains that surround the city). It is the third largest metropolitan area of Brasil. If you're interested, please look into it. Miracle Diapers is a FANTASTIC organization and could really use your cloth if you can spare your cast offs. Especially if you're a sewing mama who is trying a variety of styles/fits, this is a great place to purge.

While the international diaper has been 'lost' on Canada's Eastern Coast, the domestic diaper is still making the rounds.

There's a couple more mamas on the list and I anticipate it getting to most of them by the New Year.

More Fluff in Maryland

When Johnny was born we made the choice to use cloth diapers, the first in our generation, but it was easy and safe and made us all feel wonderful about this extra step we where taking. But as Johnny gets older and larger I have found myself falling onto the ease of disposables, but when we got the amazing Global Fluffy Bum diaper I was so excited and it re motivated me!!! It was so much fun! The first day we got the diaper was just a normal day of playing around the house and getting into trouble. Climbing on the dinning room table, begging for a cookie or drink, throwing the pillows off the couch so he can jump on them, and carrying around Elmo. All around just a normal day.

The second day we had the diaper we went to visit Grams and Pops, who thankfully live only 30 minutes away. This is a special but not uncommon outing. This is the house Johnny came home to after he was born (his Daddy was serving in Iraq so Mommy stayed with her parents till he came back, two months after Johnny was born)It is amazing to see when Pops holds Johnny and he isn't wearing pants, just how big our 18 month old really is! Grams always has a special treat or two.Johnny's big cousin Ella was at PreK and comes to Grams and Pops house after school till her Mommy and Daddy get home from work and Johnny loves it when she gets home, so he waits patently.We took advantage of having the diaper to share it with Johnny's newest cousin, Samantha, Two months old. Who also stays with Grams and Pops while her parents are at work. She is just so cute and sweet!

The last day we had the diaper actuality accrued about a week later as I procasted and waited for a sunny day to take Johnny outside. We are proudly a military family. Johnny's Daddy has been in the Army for 6 years and moved us around many times. So we thought we thought it would be fitting for Johnny to take the Global Fluffy Bum to the tanks and Ordinance Museum here on post. He like the chance to run around the tanks and climb on them, though not to high.Again I just want to thank everyone involved with the Global Fluffy Bum to allowing us to be involved and I think it is an amazing program!

Too Cute Tobin

Tobin and I (Julia of Shobers in the Catskills) were glad to take part in the Global Fluffy Bum project! We were also lucky to receive a brand new Blueberry diaper which replaced the bumGenius that had been going around the USA. Super and sparkling, I was excited to try the blueberry out as a cover. We also just received a bunch of new prefolds from my aunt! Perfect timing.

Although the diaper arrived during a not-so-exciting point in our lives, we were happy to take it out for our every day routines. First, Tobin took it around the living room a bit.

Then we were off to play group, where someone brought a big zebra to play with. Though all the mommies were excited to have the zebra around, none of the babies seemed too keen. Tobin rubbed nose to butt with the zebra. That's about the most love the poor guy got!

Later on, we went outside to play in the grass. Tobin's been loving the outdoors this summer! At least those days we actually CAN get out he's enjoying! Lately, the sun has been shining and the humidity has stayed away, so we're in heaven. This particular day - the grass was in major need of being mowed. All the better to pull on!

Inside again, Tobin had his first taste of purely o's! He wasn't too sure about them that day, but has come to love them now!

The next day, we went over to babysit (play for him!) a couple of older kids, and Tobin crawled around them trying to get their toys. Here, he was allowed to play with a hot pink flying ring. Good enough for him!

Finally, my boy decided to help me by unfolding laundry. Always appreciated! Well, maybe one day he'll learn to fold it. A mom can dream...

Then it was time to wash & dry the diaper...get ready to send it off. Poor thing sat in my car waiting to go off to the next recipients for WAY too long, though! My long 50 hour work week did not lend to getting to the post office. Oh well...fortunately, Hally has been very understanding, and I hope the next mom & baby are too.

(Cloth Diaper Carnival II)

Alright. I'm a terrible singer, but I thought it was catchy.

Wash routines vary greatly and I think that's a good thing. We all live in different areas and with varying degrees of water/soap availability. And what works for some types of dipes won't work for others.

I've become addicted to Rockin' Green (see sidebar) , but it's quite the indulgence. I'm thinking that a friend and I may split the price and share a bag!

I have a pretty predictable/regular kid so our 'dirties' aren't all that dirty. Our typical wash is every other day with a cold rinse/hot wash/cold rinse. I add the detergent to the wash cycle. In the event that I don't have the RG soap, I use Kirkland (Costco) brand Environmentally Friendly soap. I line dry with a 20 minute dry cycle if needed. (my hemp inserts take the longest)

Here's the kicker...my stain solution kicks butt! (ha...kicks butt...I'm funny, see?!) If you have a set in stain, wash like usual. THEN, BEFORE DRYING squeeze a raw lemon onto the stain and set out in the sunshine. Wash again and check stain. Repeat as necessary. Then dry once the stain is removed. When my microfibers get the stink...or my hard water adds too much buildup (sidenote: this has not happened since I used the RG) I add a scoop of water softener and a splash of vinegar or bleach.

I didn't think I'd like line drying. It's so archaic to me, but there's something methodical about spending the 10 minutes to hang things on the line. And maybe (just like my grandmother said, but don't tell her that I agree) 'Laundry line time, is good thinkin' time.'

New Wrap in NY!

The Global Fluffy Bum arrived to my home on Saturday Aug 1. We didn’t check the mail until late that night since we were out, so my son didn’t get to wear it until Sunday. The first thing he did in the diaper was crawl around the living room. He had just started crawling the previous week. He got tired, so he took a nap. When he woke up he played some more!
Monday was not a good day for the diaper. We washed it and washed it. Long story short, the diaper was stained. Tuesday we wanted to use the diaper again. We went out and about, first to the Farmer’s Market to buy some fresh veggies and fruits. YUMMY. We had lunch and then went shopping at a few more stores. Fletcher wasn’t too happy about that. The last thing we did that day was go to the local community center to volunteer. Fletcher played on the ground while I helped out the old ladies who were sewing pillowcases for the hospital. Then we went home and relaxed. Wednesday was the last day we used the diaper. At this point I knew the stain wasn’t coming out and began working hard to find a way to replace the diaper. Thanks so much to Mom’s Milk Boutique and Smarty Pants for agreeing to provide a new cover and embroider it. This say was another pretty boring day. Fletcher and I played outside in the backyard. He loves grabbing grass and trying to eat it. What can I say, he is only 8.5 months old! I talked on the phone to Softbums about a video cloth diaper review and I am really excited about that! After that Fletcher came in and used the potty so we had to take the diaper off. Later, we went out with a friend to Target. Fletcher and his girlfriend played outside of the fitting room while he showed off his Fluffy Bum! The journey ended for the GFB for good after one last ditch effort to wash and sun and wash and sun etc. This is probably the last picture of the GBF in its current form. How fitting that it should be hanging in the pit of my basement. My husband saw this picture and said it looks like where Ecoli was born. Possibly. Despite the difficulties with the diaper we are glad to have participated. We are sad that we killed the diaper but happy to have been able to find a solution that may work even better than the previous GFB. Thanks to Halley for being so understanding as well! I hope the next families all enjoy their time with the GFB

Travelling Day and interim post

Today the diaper is en route.

So on the topic of living greener...

I am convinced in the summertime that kids grow like weeds. Their legs get longer, their skin gets darker, hair lightens and they are in a state of constant motion. Awake they are powered by photosynthesis and popsicles. When they are finally (FINALLY) still, they sleep deeply and grow an inch. My boys are entertained this summer by:

playing outside in their Spiderman sprinkler (best $12 bucks spent this summer)
bug catching
riding bikes
water painting with food dye colored tap water
riding bikes
building forts & teepees out of old bed sheets and clothespins
digging in their garden
making their own volcanoes (with 'real' hot lava)
riding bikes
washing the dog
did I mention they like to ride bikes?

So in the spirit of things that entertain kids outside, but are free (almost free) and let them just be kids....chime in with your summer ideas for kids.

What do you wish you knew then that you know now? Meaning, now that are have experienced cloth first hand, what would you have told yourself when you first started or before you started?

Umm...everything!?!?

- Okay, honestly I wish that I would have known that it's okay to ask questions and not feel guilty about buying used.
- That buying a sample stash off Craigslist is a great way to try different types of diapers and see what works best for your diapering style and your baby. (ie. thick thighs, long waisted, etc)
- That CD'g is SO NOT what your mother/grandmother used to do, but you know what? (sssshhhhh...don't tell, but they are right about it being easier than I thought)
- That it is way cheaper than I thought.
- That my kids don't get nearly as many diaper rashes.
- That it's SUPER easy to corrupt, I MEAN, convince friends to try it. And then they are CD'g too.
- That husbands will try it, like it, if you make it easy for 'em. (stuffing the pockets already, lining the dipes already, etc) ps...it helps if you lay out the cost savings too!
- That CD'g moms on blogs are happy to help, answer questions, chat and pass along information. They're generally a good bunch!
- That DiaperSwappers can scare the beegeezus outta you if you let it.
- Not all baby's booties were meant for the teeny tiny 'boutique-y' diapers that cost $40 a pop.
- My baby loves me no matter what kinda diaper I put on his bum.

I'm sure there's more, but this is a good start!

Little Ones Take Fluff to Lowell, MA

The diaper got here Friday evening and Saturday morning we put it on my 18 month old son, Brennan and off we went! We took the diaper to Lowell, MA which was founded as a manufacturing center for textiles. Many immigrants came to Lowell to work in the textile mills. It was also Folk Festival weekend here, so there was plenty to see and do. We took a few pictures near some of the historical features: the canal-which led water to the turbines in the mill to power the looms, the clock tower-which dictated the life of the mill workers, the entrance to the Boot Mill Courtyard, Sculpture One—the silhouette of Francis Cabot Lowell (the textile manufacturer for which the city is named) and a cobblestone street.

Then we played in a Trolley themed playground, both kids had a great time climbing and sliding down the “trolley.” Next we toured the old engine, Boston and Maine No. 410 built in 1911. Both my kids are fascinated by trains so this and the trolley were the highlights of our trip. Finally we rode the trolley. Lowell has 3 working trolley cars which transport you across the city the way they did it before buses.

Before heading for home, we watched part of a jester show and stopped by an area where kids can play “drums” made of recycled materials. Brennan had a great time making noise.

When we got back home, my daughter Cecily, who is day time potty trained, put the diaper on for “rest time.”

We had a great “diaper” day.

Well, we went to the park and library. Madeline is now pottty trained since the fluffy bum started so she put the diaper on her favorite doll for a while or held it on the swing. Our new baby (born 5/6/09, and part of the reason it took me so long to do this, along with having surgery 4 weeks postpartum) wore the diaper at the park while she watched Madeline swing. At the library I had Hannah in our new Beco and read Madeline a book while her doll (Sarah) wore the diaper. We had loads of fun and made sure to show the librarian the diaper too! Here are some pictures.

Dear Participants,
There are two diapers in rotation:

1) the domestic diaper is visiting a mom who recently had surgery and is trying to get to the post office ASAP.

2) the international diaper is wrapping up a long visit in Canada and should be on the way to Malaysia soon.

I hope there's an easier/faster way to keep the diaper going, but I'm at a loss as to how.

Diaper in Dunbarton

Here in Dunbarton, NH, there isn't a whole lot to do but lots get done! We tried to go to the state captiol in Concord, a short 15 minute drive but 2 year old Jonah had vastly different plans.

We took the diaper to the 100th birthday of our town hall. The building was designed by Jonah's great-great uncle Jim. It held some classes that his grandfather, my father, attended as a young boy. During my school days, the town hall was used for functions, school plays, Santa visits, ballet recitals and elementary school graduation. It is now the town library where Jonah will go for story time when he is old enough.

The birthday "cake" is in front of the town hall along with memorials for the town men lost who were lost during the different wars.

Jonah enjoyed smelling the flowers.

While our Fluff has arrived safely in New Hampshire it needs a little freshening up, so the mom is going to add a wash cycle prior to wearing and a little sunshine time.

Meanwhile, my family is taking a mini vacation and I'll be off line for a couple of days.

The diaper should be ready to travel upon my return and I'm hoping it will move quicker.

Spring Day in Maine

Hi Global Fluffy Bum Followers!

My name is Jocelyn and I am 15 months old. I live in South Portland, Maine. My mommy and I were really excited to participate in the Global Fluffy Bum! I thought it would be fun to show everyone what Maine is all about!We started the day early. I put on my sandals, left the house and got into my car seat ready for an exciting day of Fluffy travel!

First we had to stop at the Maine Mall so mommy could get a coffee!

We have lots of moose here in Maine, but since it'd be hard to find one in the wild we headed to Len Libby's Candies where we met Lenny the Chocolate Moose! This is a life sized moose made from chocolate!! (That's 1,700 pounds of chocolate!) I really liked his little bear friends.

I also found another thing Maine is known for! We call this a Wicked Big Lobstah!In Maine we have lots of lighthouses, but since our coast is 3,500 miles long there's no way we could get to them! So we visited some from the Parade of Lighthouses which is an event that was done before I was born, but a lot of businesses still have them on display.

Next we drove up to Freeport where we stopped for some lunch before going to LL Bean. Look at the size of that boot!

Freeport is also home to the Big Indian Statue. He's over 50 feet tall!!

Wow! That was a lot of traveling for a baby & her diaper!

After we got home I had some time to enjoy the nice weather in the backyard.

And before leaving us the diaper got washed and hung in the beautiful Maine sunshine!

Currently the World Wide Fluffy Bum is in Portland, Maine. If the diaper had travelled just from me to the current family it would have travelled 3235 miles...but it has done so much more!

From here to OR, to AZ, NM, CO, KS, and down to TX and back East from Florida and LA to the Carolinas and GA, VA's and more! This diaper could rack up some MEAN air miles for a trip on the airlines' dime. :)

Hello All,

We had a great time with the Fluffy Bum diaper. It arrived smelling good and looking great. All these babies and there is hardly any wear. The diaper arrived on a Friday evening so we had a fun 3 days to wear the diaper and spread the word. On Saturday we were blessed with a sunny 77 degree day. Bram went outside sans pants and loved it of course.

Here he is with Daddy and his Uncle surveying Mommy's garden.

And giving the dog her chewy.

Sunday it was a bit more cool so we stayed indoors most of the day. Here is Bram having an oh so healthy snack of potato chips while watching Muzzy. Yes, he is eating directly off the couch. He insisted upon dumping his chips out of the bows. See how proud he is of himself?

On Monday we had an interview with our local paper. Here Daddy snapped a quick photo of Mommy trying to get Bram to cooperate for a photo-he was having none of it! The article will run soon, we'll share the link once the article is up on the paper's website.

Thanks Hally for organizing this endeavor, we really enjoyed participating! We'll keep checking back for more particpants, hopefully this will really help raise cloth awareness!! Fluffy Fun in PA

Our turn with the fluffy fun was great! I was extra excited because the weather forecast for the weekend was great! On Saturday Marco, who is eight months, had a good time playing around the house and on Sunday the whole family went for a stroll and some playtime by the river!

Marco has been cloth diapered since we got home from the hospital and I am truly enjoying it, especially when you find fun things (like the fluffy bum!) to share your experience with other mamas!

The diaper looks brand new! And it smelled great when it arrived! Thanks Waynesboro mama! We had fun marking our place on the map! And the traveling continues….

Off to the Race!

Hayden's turn with the traveling diaper finally came! Thankfully, our mailman came early on Friday; we were just about to leave for Richmond when the mailman brought us the diaper. So, this diaper didn't just stay in Waynesboro... it got to travel to the state capitol! Hayden is 22 months old and can either be a real ham for the camera or be somewhat shy... unfortunately, he was somewhat shy when wearing the diaper. He had just woken up and we put this diaper on him before we went out the door to the start of the Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10K. (Mommy's first race!) It was too cold and wet for him to show off the diaper outside, so we took the pictures in the hotel room.We really enjoyed our turn with the diaper and hope that the next family has a lot of fun showing it off!

Cate and Megan both enjoyed their turn with the diaper! The weather here was pretty chilly, so we spent a lot of time around the house. Cate, who turned 2 in January, was very excited to wear a "fun" diaper and enjoyed showing it off! Megan, who is not quite 4 months, spent some tummy time on the floor and some cuddle time with Mommy! We all hope the diaper is enjoyed at it's next home!

Hi everyone,
Just a quick post to let you know about the diaper. It's on the East Coast but is travelling SO slowly. Our 3 day turnaround is turning into a week or more. My apologies, but I'm at a loss as to how to make it travel faster. My contact with everyone is via email only, so I'm sure they get tired of seeing me in their inbox.

The international diaper is travelling faster than I anticipated and I'm looking to get it through Canada quickly and work from the end our the domestic roster.

Cutie in South Carolina

After what seems like ages since we signed up, we finally got the diaper about a week ago. Unfortunately we were battling a stomach thing at the time, so it was a few days before we got to use the WWFB. The weather has been pretty crazy here, so we've only got indoor shots, but they are cute nonetheless.

We had a busy weekend, had to travel to Charleston on Friday- so it was Saturday before Garrett was able to wear the diaper. Then, the weather turned rainy and cold- so we spent the day inside. Yay, it's our turn! Even though I stitched the embroidery, it was still cool to get the package and know the diaper had already done a lot of travelling. My son, Daniel, is almost 16 months old, and has been cloth diapered since we got home from the hospital. I put the diaper on him (over his GAD) right away and snapped some pics. He was watching a video with one of his big sisters, Sarah, who is a little ballerina :) in the making. The video shows lots of kids doing different kinds of dances, and it's hilarious to watch the little ones trying to copy the kids on the video. Daniel bounces up and down and twirls in circles! We had the diaper over a long, holiday weekend, so I got a few shots of Daniel in his swing, too. Though it's been raining a lot, we caught a cold, sunny day and bundled up and got some outside time for the sake of some good pics. He loves swinging, so even though you can't see the diaper, at least he actually smiled for the camera. :) I figured I'd send along a pic of D's other big sister, too. Jessie is looking for bugs...I guess I should expect that, since I decorated her nursery with bugs and butterflies when she was a baby. It looks to me like everyone is taking good care of the diaper--I can hardly tell it's been used at all. I had a lot of fun marking us on the map and seeing where else the diaper has been. I hope everyone else has as much fun participating as we did!"

Well, due to the weather we have to stay in today. It has been pouring rain since 6am. He loves it when his daddy comes home for lunch. Thank you for letting us be a part of the WW Fluff Adventure. Hope that helps. You can get different fragrances...although I am surprised that she could smell anything b/c the smell is usually gone after the wash.My laundry room smells GREAT though. Living it up in Louisiana

Cayden and I had lots of fun while the diaper was with us! We went to The Naval Air Station in Belle Chasse, LA, where daddy works on helicopters. Cayden wore the diaper the whole time, but we weren't allowed to take any pictures :( On the way home though, I decided to take the ferry back across the Mississippi River. We had to stay in the truck, but I got a few photos of the river in the background. This was really an awesome experience and we are SO happy we got a chance with the diaper!

* How can we keep the diaper moving quicker? It seems to get stuck in for more than a week. The participants aren't replying to emails to either confirm or deny they even got it.

Yes, the bum was on Boston while he and his mama, Aubrea, spent some time with the World Wide Fluff.

When the diaper arrived in Pampa, TX we had some unexpected events going on so we didn't get to have as much fun as originally planned. We finally got to enjoy the fluff and get some shots in while Boston, 18 1/2 months, was playing around in the living room before bath and bed time. Here he is with his favorite toy...his lawn mower.

Shannon & Reagan got the Diaper. Here's their Halloween Adventures.

Reagan, 13 months, loves playing outside in her bare feet. I think she likes how the cool grass feels on her tiny toes! It always makes her happy. On Saturday night, I thought it would be fun to let her play with her little witch hat and broom while running around outdoors. We have our pumpkins and Mr. Bones displayed, and Reagan has been so excited about the pumpkins ever since we picked them at the pumpkin patch! I bet she'll have a ball on Halloween night!

The weather was cold and rainy the week that we received the diaper, but the sun finally came out on Day 3! We celebrated the beautiful sunshine with Sloane's first trip to a pumpkin patch, and then a visit to our favorite local health food store, Food for Thought, for some yummy, all-natural goodness.

Why did you choose cloth?

Hi Everyone,
The World Wide Fluff is currently on a mail truck making its way through Colorado. While we wait for the delivery, I thought I'd ask another cloth question.

Besides saving the world, one landfill at a time, what made you choose cloth? Why did you choose the style of diaper that you did?

We chose cloth because of the cost savings. Big difference in our small budget. Plus, we got a great stash for $100 and thought it couldn't hurt to try out pockets & prefolds!

Crawling in Cloth

Hi Mamas,
This is a somewhat selfish post. I'm looking for a new AIO/Fitted/Pocket in large sizes for Baby B. (I'm spoiled as the stash I bought before he was born had us set from newborn through medium.) He's getting close to crawling and I'm looking to invest in some additions for our stash. We've got some bG's and prefolds that I use but I'd like another 1/2 dozen of something that will let him wiggle without leaking.

What's your best diaper for crawling?

Waiting and the wash...

While we wait for the diaper to arrive at the next destination, let's talk cloth.

I figure we'll start on some mellow and not controversial.

What's your wash method? We're using bG's and prefolds. (grew out of our HH and await the budget go ahead before we try some GAD's) We toss everything into the wash (hot/cold) with a Planet detergent. No pre-rinse...but Baby B is just now starting solids, so I think the pre-rinse is in order shortly. Then we line dry (as much as we can with the rainy season approaching) with a light tumble dry (10 minutes) to fluff if needed.

Anyone tried the liners?

Arizona Update

Here's the adventures the World Wide Fluffy Bum had while in Arizona, courtesy of Stephanie.

We had lots of fun showing off the diaper. Too bad our camera decided not to work and can not retrieve the pictures of it. We had it on for brother's T-ball practice and took lots of pics crawling. We also took pics standing on our lil tykes slide and standing in all the diapers in the store. It was lots of fun. Now if we can get the camera to work, we'd love to share our smiles.

Last Day in California

Bam bam and I had fun with the fluffy bum today! Here it is sitting with our stash (please excuse the stained instert below!!) He wore it over a tiny tush one size (which you can see didn't quite fit over completely).

But, first we played with trains! Yeah for GeoTrax!

Then after covering the fluffy bootie we went and fed the ducks but they got a little too close and had to be taught their manners!!

We then headed off to the park where Bam bam played on the stucture but refused to go down the slide...... even for Daddy!!!!

We finished off our 'wear' of the fluffy bum with a nap! Thanks for letting us share in the fun!!

Day 2 of the World Wide Fluffy Bum

Today was a big day for the diaper. Not only did it have to hold up to a toddler, but it had to hold up to a park playdate. We went with a 'Under the Nile' fitted underneath the WWFluffy Bum.

We headed off to a park playdate, this time to a local park with a pint sized train and kid carousel, a real jet for them to climb all over and loads of playgrounds. I love the way my son likes to strut in the house in just his diapers but as soon as we are packing up to leave, he HAS to wear something over them. 'Butt, Mama....Don't look my butt.' Here are some of our pics, before, during and after the diaper. I just love the look of cloth diapers on a clothesline.

Allrighty, then! Our days with the diaper are done! I'm off to the laminators for the final step of the directions. Then to the post office to send it to the next mama! In the event that the popular chain copy store has laminating issues, I'll keep you guys posted.

Baby B's Day Out in the Diaper

Yesterday was Baby B's turn to wear the diaper to his 'playgroup'. Okay do 4month olds really play at the playground? No. But it was a great chance to take the diaper out and get some pics.

We are wearing a prefold under the World Wide Wrap and we had to wear pants over it because it was cool in the morning when we left. Here's the diaper all super cute before we got dressed.

We didn't do a whole lot besides chat and eat snacks while the toddlers tore up the playground. But Baby B was in the swing at the park for the first time!

We came home and he played in the saucer while I made lunch. Then it was wash time so Big Brother could wear it today.
